EnglishHere is the English version.
EnglishOn June 17, 1885, a special ship arrived in New York Harbor. It carried the Statue of Liberty from France. The statue was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States. It was too large to travel as one piece, so workers took it apart. They packed the pieces in more than 200 large crates. The ship was called Isère. After the ship arrived, the crates went to Bedloe’s Island, now called Liberty Island. Workers later put the statue together there. The statue was not ready for visitors that day, but its arrival was an important step. It was dedicated the next year, on October 28, 1886.
