Connect LingoTailor to ChatGPT

Practice languages, review your progress and request personal podcasts from ChatGPT using your existing LingoTailor account. This guide connects the MCP server directly; it does not require a public-directory listing.

Before you start

Sign in to LingoTailor and complete your language profile. Use that same account when ChatGPT opens the authorization screen.
Use ChatGPT on the web with permission to add custom MCP servers. Availability and menu names depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace policies.

Use the values exactly as shown. Production uses the existing lingotailer.clipiti.com authentication hostname, even though the website is lingotailor.clipiti.com. This is intentional; do not change the server URL or client ID to match the website spelling.

Name: LingoTailor
Authentication: OAuth with the provided client ID (public client, S256 PKCE)
OAuth client secret: Leave blank. Do not paste passwords, API keys or tokens.
Scopes, if requested: mcp:read mcp:write

Use the provided client settings, not dynamic client registration (DCR) or CIMD.

1. Add LingoTailor in ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
Enter LingoTailor as the name. Under Connection, choose the public server URL option and paste the MCP server URL above, including /mcp. No tunnel is needed.
Choose OAuth. Enter the provided OAuth client ID and leave the client secret blank. If asked for scopes, use mcp:read mcp:write.
Review the risk warning. If you agree, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

If your ChatGPT interface shows Apps instead of Plugins

Open ChatGPT Settings and look for Apps or Apps & Connectors. Where available, enable Developer mode under advanced settings, then choose Create or Add custom app. Use the same server URL and OAuth settings above. Your workspace may require administrator permission.

If these controls are missing, check OpenAI's current connection instructions or ask your workspace administrator. LingoTailor cannot enable these controls.

2. Sign in and review permissions

When ChatGPT opens LingoTailor, sign in with your existing account. Check the account shown on the permission screen, review the access requested, then approve only if you agree. Cancelling does not authorize the connection. Creating the connection does not create a second LingoTailor account.

The connection can read your profile, curriculum, progress, saved instructions and personal podcast library. It can also save practice results and lesson checkpoints or request podcasts when you choose to use those tools. Review write confirmations carefully. Podcast requests use your existing quota and unlisted personal feed, not the public Spanish channels. The connection does not receive your entire ChatGPT conversation.

3. Try a read-only request

Install the resulting plugin if prompted. Start a new conversation, type @ and select LingoTailor. Then try:

This checks access without generating a podcast or saving a practice result. Approve only actions you intend; do not share passwords or sensitive personal information in learning content.

Troubleshooting

No option to add a custom server: Check your ChatGPT plan, workspace permissions and security restrictions. Ask your administrator if custom connections are blocked.
Profile required or the wrong account appears: Cancel authorization, sign in to LingoTailor with the correct account and finish profile setup. Then start the connection again.
Invalid client, redirect URI or OAuth error: Copy the settings exactly and keep the secret blank. If it still fails, contact support with the error message, without sending tokens or passwords. Do not invent a client secret or change registered callback settings.
Expired connection or missing tools: Reconnect through ChatGPT when sign-in is requested. Refresh the connection's tools in its settings and start a new conversation with LingoTailor selected.
Disconnecting or deleting data: Remove or disconnect the app in ChatGPT to stop using that connection. Disconnection does not delete your LingoTailor learning data or guarantee server-side revocation of existing tokens. Contact support for access or deletion requests.
