EnglishJonah and the Great Fish. Welcome to this intermediate English-to-Spanish story lesson. First, listen to a respectful retelling in English.

EnglishAccording to the traditional biblical story, God tells Jonah, a prophet, to go to Nineveh and warn its people to change their ways. Jonah runs in the opposite direction and boards a ship. A violent storm threatens everyone, and Jonah admits that his disobedience is the cause. The sailors throw him into the sea, and the storm stops. God provides a great fish that swallows Jonah. After three days and nights, Jonah prays and is released onto dry land. He finally goes to Nineveh. When the people repent, God shows mercy, and Jonah learns that compassion can reach beyond his own community.

EnglishNow the lesson continues in Spanish. Listen for the meaning and the rhythm of the story.
